It was one of those picture-perfect days where you just want to sit down and relax on one of the many benches and enjoy the beautiful views of Wellfleet Harbor.

Double-Crested Cormorant Convention!
248 viewsIt’s that time of the year when birds start gathering together for their winter migration. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
These Double-crested Cormorants were all enjoying some relaxing time crowded on these rafts by Little Pleasant Bay. There were hundreds of them! They must be getting ready…
Gorgeous Hidden Trail To Nauset Marsh.
301 viewsSlow And Steady Trying To Get To The Other Side.
579 viewsIt’s always such a treat to see an Eastern Box turtle on Cape Cod. We watched this one while he crossed the road just to make sure he made it before a car came by. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
Unlike pond or marsh turtles, Eastern Box turtles live entirely on land, frequenting dry and moist woodlands, thickets, and sandy coastal regions. Their high-domed shells feature distinct, fingerprint-like yellow, orange, and brown starburst patterns which you can see in the photos.
Gorgeous Fall Morning At Kent’s Point.
488 viewsIt was a gorgeous fall day to take a walk at Kent’s Point. The sun was shining brightly and the reflections off of the water were spectacular!
Who Got The Last Laugh At First Encounter Beach Yesterday?
We sat in our car yesterday at First Encounter Beach chuckling while we watched a seagull land on top of the car next to us while the driver was inside enjoying her lunch. It stood up there for a little while. We figured it was just waiting patiently for a “hand out!”
Who got the last laugh as it flew onto our car when she drove away… and proceeded to stare at us through our windshield? Haha! We didn’t have any food.
Beautiful Savannah Sparrow At Fort Hill.
221 viewsWe’ve only seen a Savannah Sparrow once before, so it was a big treat to see several of them hopping along the fence rail at Fort Hill. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

The Savannah Sparrow is a small, brown-streaked grassland songbird easily recognized by a distinctive yellow stripe or spot above or in front of its eye. Have you ever seen one?
Enjoying Breakfast In The Cape Cod Woods.
244 viewsYesterday morning was a bit chilly but a gorgeous morning just to be outside in nature. We decided to have an early picnic breakfast at Fort Hill and then a nice walk. Perfect! (Click on blog link for other photo.)
As we headed down the trail, we saw this beautiful White-tailed Deer enjoying his breakfast in the woods. A birder, that we had bumped into, said that he had seen 7 of them out grazing in the meadow as the sun was coming up. What a special place…
Perfect Day For Paddle-Boarding At Nauset Marsh.
Yesterday was a beautiful day for a hike at Fort Hill… the sun was shining and the winds were quiet. We had gone out to see whatever there was to see in nature, but these two paddle boarders caught my eye. They must have launched at Nauset Marsh pretty early as they were almost out to the outer beaches. What amazed me was the expansiveness of Nauset Marsh and how tiny these two looked…
Two Perspectives At Nauset Marsh… Which One Do You Like Better?
295 viewsIt sure feels like fall at Hemenway Landing. You can see the grass on the Nauset Marsh starting to turn brown. But the flowers are still blooming and the kayaks are still there, hoping for a few more warm days. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

I took two different perspectives at the same location… which one do you like better?
