It has been so much fun watching the countless number of baby chicks in our yard the past couple of weeks. (Click on blog link for other photos.)
The little babies sit there with their wings flapping while mom gets them some food.
These Downy Woodpecker triplets were just adorable waiting for mom to come back with some suet from the feeder!

Woodpeckers don’t sing songs, but they drum loudly against pieces of wood or metal to achieve the same effect. People sometimes think this drumming is part of the birds’ feeding habits, but it isn’t. In fact, feeding birds make surprisingly little noise even when they’re digging vigorously into wood.
