This American flag of painted clam shells was created in 1976 during the Bi-Centennial year by Violet Neidel and is so iconic of Cape Cod and its beaches. Every year it is freshly painted and looks so nice on the road to First Encounter Beach. This year a couple of rows of gold clam shells were added to celebrate its 50th birthday, also our country’s 250th birthday year.
Violet took care of this shell flag for its first 4 years. Her son, Bill Neidel, has maintained it ever since. Thank you for maintaining this beautiful flag over the years. I’m sure it has brought a smile to many people!
Love this!
Happy 4th!
