I saw a little movement on the sand at Coast Guard Beach and I could tell it was not a Piping Plover. I quickly got my camera and clicked away. (Click on blog link for other photos.)
As I looked at my photos, I could tell it was a Horned Lark. I had seen them there only once before, so that was pretty cool.
“The Horned Lark, with brown upper parts and white underparts, is distinctly known for its yellow face with a black mask which extends down, its two black “horns,” and its black bib.”
Did you know it’s the only Lark native to North America? Have you ever seen a Horned Lark?
