The small body of water that connects Nauset Marsh and the Atlantic Ocean and divides the beach with Nauset Beach on the south side and Coast Guard Beach on the north side is called Nauset Spit. It is not very wide, but wide enough for smaller boats to get through.
You can get to it by walking from Nauset Beach (a long walk) or Coast Guard Beach (a not as long walk). I took this photograph from the Coast Guard Beach side. Beautiful, don’t you think?
Any of the trails to the beaches here on Cape Cod are pretty amazing. This trail leads out to one of the beaches on Wellfleet Harbor. So pretty, even in winter. You can even see Jeremy Point in the distance.
Have you ever seen the beaches on Wellfleet Harbor?
Boat Meadow Beach had a few new gullies after the storm the other day with the rain pummelling the beach and parking lot. You can see how rough Cape Cod Bay is with all those whitecaps. (Click on blog link to see full photo.)
But the benches are still intact, so all is still ok.
