There sure was a lot of sand at the end of Newcomb Hollow Beach parking lot after the storms. When the wind blows the sand onto the parking lots by the beaches, they need to plow the sand away to make room for the cars to park.
You can see how high the sand is at the picnic table. High but still manageable for a picnic at the beach!
High tide on Cape Cod Bay has been really high since the storms last winter. Last summer there was plenty of sand to set your beach chair down on at high tide. There is not much sand at high tide now and none as you walk around the corner there.
It will be interesting to see what Mother Nature has in store before summer…
The flats at low tide tide on Cape Cod Bay are different every time you see them. I loved this photograph of the flats between Rock Harbor and Boat Meadow. It’s so amazing how far the tide goes out at low tide and then how far it comes in at high tide.
Ballston Beach in Truro is a gorgeous beach that is so secluded. Many times you don’t see another soul around. I walked out over the dune trail on the Pamet Trail and this is what I saw.
The water still goes up pretty high on Coast Guard Beach, part of the National Seashore, at high tide. You can see by this photograph that the water goes all the way up to the dunes when the tides are high as you walk down the beach. This photograph was taken about 2 and 1/2 hours after high tide.
There are places along the beach where the sand is higher and the water doesn’t get up to the dunes. The dilemma is… if you walk down the beach when the tide is lower, will you get back if the tide comes in?
