There’s Lots Of Snow At Herring Cove Beach In Provincetown On Cape Cod!

We took a ride up to Provincetown yesterday to see what Herring Cove Beach looked like after the storm last week. They sure did get a lot of snow up there! We could see the snow on the dunes as we were driving into Provincetown. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

When we got to Herring Cove Beach, we had to very carefully walk from the parking lot to the beach trail. Each trail had a lot of deep snowdrifts on it. It’s the most snow I’ve seen at the beach in a long time, much more than Wellfleet or Eastham.

In the last photograph, you can see the erosion mitigation fences. It was such a pretty day as the sun had just come out after many days of cloudy weather. You can even see Race Point in the distance.

Herring Cove Parking Lot In Provincetown On Cape Cod Got Hammered Over The Winter

It seems like each time we drive to Herring Cove Parking lot on Herring Cove Beach, the parking lot is a bit smaller. The winter storms really took a huge chunk out of it. There’s still room for some cars, but nearly as many as before as you can see by the barriers across the lot.

There is still a much larger parking lot just a few yards away, with restrooms, that holds quite a few cars which is where most of the people who enjoy Herring Cove Beach can park.

Still love the view down to Race Point in the distance.

High Sands At Herring Cove Beach In Provincetown On Cape Cod

It’s a good thing they have “sand fences” along some of the beaches on Cape Cod. It’s like a snow fence, but acts the same way for sand.

I loved this photograph of this sand fence at Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown which trapped the sand so high that people were walking over it to get to the beach. I took the photograph standing on the edge of the parking lot.

And then I edited it 2 ways and I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. What do you think?
