Beautiful Sunset Over the Salt Marsh On Cape Cod.

This was such a gorgeous, orange sunset over the salt marsh the other night. I could hear all of the birds chattering in the grasses. Just as I started to click, they took off into the sky.

So pretty, don’t you  think? I love the orange glow on the water with the silhouettes of the birds above…

The Many Trails At Nickerson State Park On Cape Cod.

There are so many trails to choose from at Nickerson State Park in Brewster.  You can go for a long hike or a short walk, in the woods or by one of the many kettle ponds. They are all well marked with different colors and different signs. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

This is the trail around Cliff Pond which is marked with a yellow marker on the trees. . No matter where you start it, you can follow the markers or signs and not get lost. Have you ever hiked Nickerson State Park? This is a really pretty 3 mile hike around Cliff Pond.

Morning Solitude On Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

My favorite time to take a walk on the beach on Cape Cod is early in the morning. There is no one around and you can just walk and walk and walk. Just you and the water and the waves and the birds and the beach… So cathartic! I love it!

Courting Piping Plovers On Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod: Part II.

While it was such a treat to see that the Piping Plovers were back for the summer, it was even more of a treat to see them courting on the sand. “The male approaches the female, stands upright with neck stretched, and rapidly stamps his feet with an odd “high-stepping gait.” (Click on blog link for more photos.)

It was so cool to watch the two of them. And then the female settled down in the sand where I presume their nest would be. Maybe we’ll go back today and see what’s going on. We’d never seen that ritual before. Have you?

In the last photograph, you can hardly see where she is nesting in the sand.
