Beautiful Common Yellowthroat At Fort Hill On Cape Cod.

I was up very early and thought it would be fun to take a walk at Fort Hill to see what else was awake at that hour. Oh my! (Click on blog link for other photo.)

As I rounded the trail by the marsh I heard this gorgeous song coming from high up on one of the reeds I looked up and there was a Common Yellowthroat singing his heart out. He was just gorgeous! Love his black mask and bright yellow throat.

Just at the right place at the right time! Such a treat!

Gorgeous Northern Bobwhite At Fort Hill On Cape Cod!

It’s amazing how, so often, you just happen to be at the right place at the right time. I was hiking at Fort Hill on Friday and decided to hang out a bit at Hemenway Landing taking some photographs of the horseshoe crabs mating near the shore. It was pretty cool. And then, as I walked up the trail, I heard a distinct call of “Bob-white! Bob-white!” I knew there was a Bobwhite nearby. But where? I quietly looked about the brush and trees and then found him on a branch overlooking Nauset Marsh. He was only about 15-20 feet from me and he hadn’t seen me yet. I quietly clicked away and got some amazing photos.

I’ve only seen the Bobwhite 3 times since we moved here 6 years ago, so it was a big treat. If I hadn’t stopped to check out those horseshoe crabs, I might have missed this elusive bird.

Just happy that… I was at the right place at the right time! Gorgeous bird, don’t you think?

Beautiful Little Copper Butterfly On Cape Cod.

The butterflies are starting to migrate back to Cape Cod this time of the year. It’s so much fun to see a couple of new ones each day. This Little Copper Butterfly was feasting on the flowers at Fort Hill. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

The Little Copper butterfly is a small butterfly with a wing span of only about 1″. Its fiery tones are just gorgeous among the white flowers. You can see the difference in coloring in the 2nd photograph when its wings are folded up.

Beautiful little butterfly, don’t you think?

Black And White Or Color Cape Cod Photograph?

Phil and I were taking a hike at Fort Hill and both photographed the same tree. When we got home we shared what we had taken. Wow! What a difference! (Click on blog link for other photo.)

Black and white or color? Which one do you like better?
