We Got To See A Wild Care Cape Cod Release Yesterday!

Phil and I stopped at Boat Meadow Beach yesterday around lunch time to see if there were any birds, as it was low tide. (Click on blog link for other photos.)  And, a couple of minutes later, a car drove up and a lady pulled 2 plastic tubs from her car. Hmmmm….

Might there be birds in them? I had seen many videos of Wild Care Cape Cod when they release their rehabilitated birds and they usually come in a plastic tub. I grabbed my phone and ran down near the water, just in time to watch her release 2 Seagulls and take videos as they flew away.

Very cool! Wild Care Cape Cod does an excellent job in caring for their wildlife whether it be birds, mammals, turtles… whatever. They are experts in their field. It was such a treat to see this! We were in the perfect place at the perfect time!

Razorbill At Wellfleet Harbor On Cape Cod.

Phil and I were on our way up to Provincetown and decided to stop for a picnic breakfast at Wellfleet Harbor. We had packed our usual 1/2 bagel with peanut butter and jelly and a small thermos of oatmeal. Perfect for a picnic.

There were a lot of Buffleheads swimming about in the bay. And then I saw this other bird farther out. I got my camera and clicked away and got a photograph that could at least identify the seabird.

When I contacted Stephanie Ellis, the Executive Director at Wild Care Cape Cod, she confirmed that it was a Razorbill which is a large seabird with black upperparts and white underparts. Its thick, curved bill has a white band around it, which you cannot see in the photograph.

Have you ever seen a Razorbill? That was my first! Thank you, Stephanie for your expertise!

Love The Boardwalk On The Red Maple Swamp Trail At Fort Hill On Cape Cod.

The Red Maple Swamp Trail has always been one of my favorite trails on Cape Cod. It is so pretty any time of the year. There is a section of boardwalk that lets you hike over the swampy areas which you can see in the photograph.

Have you ever hiked the Red Maple Swamp Trail?

What Does This Look Like At Hemenway Landing On Cape Cod?

Every time I walk by this dead piece of wood, it reminds me of an angry bird getting ready to take flight. So, I finally decided to take a photograph of it and post it. (Look at the full photo to really see it!)

I asked Phil for his opinion and he thought I was “really stretching it!” Ha!! But, can’t you see the bill with the little knob on it and his head with the protruding eyes…?
