The clouds were rolling in and the winds were kicking up at Nauset Light Beach. I took one photograph from far away and then I zoomed in for a close-up. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. What do you think?
It’s always a treat to see the red Northern Cardinal male feed his mate. They look so loving. He goes and gets the food and she waits for him come back and feed her. So sweet! We have always called them Red and Birdie…
The snow has been so pretty here on the Cape. And the trails through the woods even prettier. This was such a beautiful trail by the Salt Pond and Nauset Marsh. (Click on blog link for vertical photo.)
We have really been enjoying the first measurable snow that we’ve had this winter and getting out on the trails.
I walked by our bay window and saw a huge bird on our bird feeder, so I quickly grabbed my camera and clicked. I was so positive that it was a Red-tailed Hawk that I didn’t even think twice about it. He was sitting on top of the feeder patiently waiting for the birds which were noticeable absent.
Until… I put it on my computer and realized that it was a Cooper’s Hawk and he was a beauty! I only got one shot and this was it! Beautiful bird, don’t you think? Have you ever seen a Cooper’s Hawk?
Yesterday was a gorgeous day with sunny skies, temps in the lower 30s and little wind. With the 2 snowstorms since last weekend, we’ve had about 7-8″ of new snow… which is perfect if you want to go cross-country skiing.
We went down to the basement and got out all of our old cross-country ski equipment. We hadn’t skied since Colorado many years ago, so this was a first for us on Cape Cod. And what fun we had! It was a perfect day to be outside and try out an old sport! No one else was there so we got to make the first ski tracks of the day!
