There is a beautiful new bench where a few of the trails intersect by Heartbreak Hill in Nickerson State Park in Brewster. It was built and installed by the New England Mountain Bike Association. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
Nickerson has many trails that are accessible to both hikers and mountain bikers, so don’t be surprised if you happen to see some along the way. Or sit for a minute and relax while you enjoy those wonderful trails.
The past few mornings have been so foggy that you can’t even see the water and if you take a walk, you can hear the dew dripping from the trees. It’s very humid. When I went out on my early morning bike ride, I saw some pretty wildflowers growing near the salt marsh. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
It was low tide on the salt marsh and you could see the back side of Rock Harbor in the distance. I thought, “How can I make lemonade out of lemons?” I snapped a few photographs and then came home and challenged Phil to an edit.
Mine is the first edit and his is the 2nd. Totally different interpretations, don’t you think? Which one do you like better?
Yesterday was 62 degrees and so warm and a perfect day to get my bike out for that first bike ride of the year. Wow! It’s February! I love riding down to the Eastham side of Rock Harbor.
It’s very cool that we always do have a few warm days in the middle of winter on Cape Cod where you think you can sneak in that coveted “winter” bike ride!
It was a stormy morning at Fort Hill, but the rain had stopped for a bit and someone rode their bike up the hill and parked it at the National Seashore sign. (Click on blog link for other photos.)
We took a few photographs and then started playing around with them.
And then we couldn’t decide which one we liked best… what do you think?
The sky behind the dunes at First Encounter Beach the other morning was just spectacular! I stopped to take a photograph but there was one big problem… I couldn’t get my shadow out of the photo! (Click on blog for other photo.)
I tried stepping aside and got a photograph with just the dune but the sky in the background isn’t nearly as pretty as if you take the dune straight-on.
