Cool Shadow At Nauset Beach On Cape Cod.

I told Phil that I was going to take a walk down Nauset Beach to see if I could find the ship that was starting to come up a couple of weeks ago. (Click on blog link to see other photo.) It had gone down in a storm a long, long time ago. No one was sure which ship it was but you could see a bit of the hull sticking out of the sand.

The only bit of info I got about its location was that it was on the beach toward Chatham. It was a gorgeous day, in the 50s and sunny. You didn’t even need  a winter jacket. Of course I had my winter parks, hat and mittens… just in case! Ha!

I walked and walked for 2 miles and couldn’t find a thing! Did I not walk far enough? Was the tide not low enough? Oh well… I was pretty far down the beach with no one in sight so I decided it was time to head back to the car.

I turned around and took this photo to send to Phil with the caption, “I can’t see anything!” He wrote back, “I see something. Your shadow!” 🙂

Black-Bellied Plover At Boat Meadow Beach On Cape Cod.

It was so cool to see this Black-bellied Plover at Boat Meadow Beach the other day. I took quite a few photographs as I couldn’t identify it then and there. When I got home I put it on my iBird PRO app and realized that it was a Black-bellied Plover in its winter coloring.

I did some research and learned  that many of them winter here on Cape Cod and are also seen during migration. I had never seen one there before so that was a first for me! Very cool, don’t you think?

West Heartbreak Hill Loop Trail At Nickerson State Park On Cape Cod!

I love hiking at Nickerson State Park, especially offseason. You can pick one of the trails on the map of make your own using the AllTrails app. We hiked the West Heartbreak Hill Loop Trail yesterday and it was so pretty. (Click on blog link for other photo.) There are so many variations, you can make it as long or as short as you like.

Have you ever hiked in Nickerson State Park? It’s just beautiful with so much diversity. This hike was pretty much in the woods and so pretty. Perfect for this time of the year and especially if it’s windy!

Whale Bones At The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary On Cape Cod.

The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is a great place to take the whole family. There is so many different things to see, any time of the year.

As you head out on the main trail from the visitors center, you will see a variety of whale bones on the left of the trail. They are really cool to see and the kids love them! Take some photographs and see if the kids can identify them when they get home!
