My favorite time of the day is 6:00 am when I take a glorious bike ride… over the salt marsh, to the beach, to the harbors, through town and back home on the bike trail. This is Boat Meadow Beach in the early morn with high tide approaching.
It was a gorgeous sunset at Rock Harbor and there were a lot of people there to enjoy the moment. I loved this photograph of the sun setting between the boats in the harbor.
What do you think? Have you ever seen a sunset at Rock Harbor?
The Monarch butterflies fly all the way up north from Mexico to lay their eggs on the underside of Milkweed plants. These eggs will grow into a beautiful caterpillar like this one which goes through 5 stages and eventually makes its own chrysalis. It will emerge as a gorgeous Monarch butterfly! The new Monarch butterfly will get strong enough to make the journey back south before the weather gets too cold. Amazing, don’t you think?
Have you ever seen a Monarch caterpillar? We had a chrysalis hanging from one of the shingles on our house last fall. I sure hope we see another one this year!
These two Northern Flickers were enjoying our bird feeders the other day. It looked like Dad was showing the little one, who wasn’t very little, how to get seed from the feeder. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
The first photograph is of the male adult on top of the feeder. The 2nd one is the baby looking back at Dad, and the 3rd one is of them both on the feeder. The little one doesn’t quite know what do do.
So cute, don’t you think?
