We took an awesome hike at Nickerson State Park in Brewster called Little Cliff Pond Trail. You hike along the shores of Cliff Pond, then through the woods to Little Cliff Pond where you see some spectacular view, especially in the fall.
The hike back is along the opposite shore but up on a cliff along the smaller pond, thus called Little Cliff Pond. It was really pretty and fairly easy for the whole family.
Have you ever hiked Little Cliff Pond Trail at Nickerson State Park?
The trails at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary have many benches along the way so you can relax and enjoy the spectacular views. This is one of my favorite benches along the Try Island Trail. You can see way out on the salt marsh.
Beautiful, don’t you think?
There are still a few wildflowers blooming on the trails on Cape Cod. I saw this delicate pink wildflower while hiking on the Bayview Trail at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
I’ve looked and looked in my books and on the internet but can’t seem to identify it. Does anyone know what kind of wildflower this is?
So pretty and delicate, don’t you think?
The leaves are starting to turn here on Cape Cod. I loved the colors in this photograph on the John Kenrick Woods Trail in Orleans. Part of the trail goes through the White Pine woods and the other part goes down this trail to Arey’s Pond.
I couldn’t decide if I liked the horizontal one or the vertical one better. What do you think?
I always love to hike the White Cedar Swamp Trail, part of the National Seashore, in Wellfleet on Cape Cod. It is so diverse taking you through scruffy bushes to oak trees to a forest to the White Cedar Swamp where you hike over a boardwalk and then back. It is a loop trail.
One couple summed it up perfectly today when we chatted on the boardwalk. They said it was such a “magical place.” I couldn’t think of a better way to describe it.
Put it on your “To Do” list when you visit Cape Cod!
This little Catbird was singing away on the Red Maple Swamp Trail at Fort Hill on Cape Cod. We could see him through the bushes in the distance, perched on the branch.
He looks like a young one with his fluffy feathers, don’t you think? So cute!
