Each year about this time, the Wild Irises bloom at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. They are easy to spot off the trail as they are so colorful and grow fairly tall.
Pretty, don’t you think?
If you’ve never walked the boardwalk on the Red Maple Swamp Trail at Fort Hill in Eastham, put it on your list. It is always spectacular and always something new to see. Phil and I walked there early the other morning and it seemed almost mystical with all of the sounds of nature.
Have you ever walked the Red Maple Swamp Trail?
It must be that time of the year for the Lilies of the Valley to bloom. They are so beautiful. We’ve seen so many of them on our last few hikes. They are such a delicate little flower with such a pretty bell-shape.
I took the first photograph on the Doane Rock Trail heading out to Coast Guard Beach and the 2nd photograph on the Nauset Marsh Trail before you get to the overlook of Nauset Marsh. The 2nd one looks like a whole garden of Lilies of the Valley.
So pretty, don’t you think?
It is such a treat this time of year to see the wildflowers starting to bloom along the trails. This one was blooming at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. There are so many things to see there from wildflowers to wildlife, to birds, etc. Just take one of their many trails and you never know what you will see!
