White Campion Wildflower At Fort Hill On Cape Cod

The White Campion wildflowers are blooming all over Fort Hill in Eastham on Cape Cod. They have a whitish to pinkish flower that opens at night and on overcast days. How interesting…

The 5 petals, which are 1 to 1 1/2″,  are so deeply notched that they look like 10 petals. White Campions bloom from June through August so you can still find them on roadsides , fields and open areas.

Nauset Break On Cape Cod

We hiked down Coast Guard Beach to the Nauset Break the other day. It seems like it it forever changing with the weather and the tides.

This day was just  spectacular with the sun shining and the blue sky. Phil clicked this pano of me looking out at the break. You can see Nauset Beach in the distance. Solitude at its best…

Love That Early Morning Bike Ride On Cape Cod!

It is the most wonderful feeling getting on my bike at 6:00 in the morning before most people are even awake and taking that 10-12 mile bike ride. There is no one around, except that occasional other biker so you have the whole place to yourself.

The views are breathtaking and each day is totally different, depending on the weather and the tides. I took this photograph of my bike at Boat Meadow when it was almost high tide.

It doesn’t get much prettier…

Tiny Horseshoe Crab On The Beach On Cape Cod

This little Horseshoe Crab shell that we saw on Coast Guard Beach the other day was no bigger than a quarter. It was tiny!

“For the horseshoe to grow larger, it must molt and shed its shell. These “molts” can sometimes be found near tidal flats, left by the juvenile crabs who live there for their first year or two.”

Fascinating, don’t you think?
