Great Blue Herons High In The Tree On Cape Cod!

I am always so surprised to Great Blue Herons way up high in a tree. It just seems natural that they are by the shore fishing, not up in a tree resting.

I saw these two Great Blue Herons on the Nauset Marsh Trail by the Salt Pond. Pretty cool, huh?

Beautiful Red Cardinal At Our Bird Bath On Cape Cod.

This one red Cardinal who we call Red, and his wife, Birdie, have been hanging around our yard quite a bit lately. I love it! They must like our birdseed. I’ve always loved Cardinals. Their red coloring is so vivid.

Red was just hanging out and having a drink at our bird bath. Beautiful, don’t you think?

The Bluebirds Are Checking Out The Birdhouse By Our Bedroom Window On Cape Cod.

The Bluebirds having been flying in and out of the birdhouse right by our bedroom window the past couple of days. How cool is that! Last year we had two Bluebird families that made nests and then had their young there. It was so much fun to watch! The babies were adorable!

Keeping our fingers crossed that they move in and give us another treat this year!

Black And White Buffleheads At Rock Harbor On Cape Cod.

I love to see the Buffleheads swimming about in the winter here on Cape Cod. They are so distinct with their black and white coloring. I’ve seen many of them at Boat Meadow Creek and at Rock Harbor. They are pretty skittish if they see you or hear you, so it is easier to take a photograph at Rock Harbor where they are further away and there’s some noise about.

This male was flapping his wings as the 2 females swam nearby. There is such a difference between the males and females.

Have you ever seen a Bufflehead? Cool-looking, don’t you think?
