After shoveling most of Monday and then waking up Tuesday to more wind blown snow, we decided to “make lemonade out of lemons” and have some fun! (Click on blog link for other photos.)
We got our snowshoes that Phil had just put new straps on and hiking poles and put on our warmest clothes with gaiters to keep our feet dry and drove up to Fort Hill. It was just glorious with the sun shining and the views spectacular!
We hadn’t been snowshoeing since we lived in Colorado at least 15 years ago. It was like riding a bike and just so much fun! So glad Phil fixed those straps last week! Nothing like a lot of fun in the middle of a lot of snow!
When we had that surprise snowstorm of 8” the week before Christmas, we got our snowshoes out thinking it might be fun to do some snowshoeing around here. We snowshoed quite a bit in Colorado and loved it! (Click on blog link for fun snowshoeing video.)
But, when we saw them, the rubber straps had all disintegrated and totally fallen apart. We did a little research and ordered some new straps. Phil got them all put back together the other day and then we thought… I wonder if it will ever snow enough to snowshoe around here again as we have never snowshoed here. And now this….
With all the hype, it will be interesting to see how much snow we really do get. Hopefully enough to have some fun, but certainly not what they are forecasting! Fingers crossed…
