Adorable Little Northern Cardinal Chick On Cape Cod.

We have a family of Northern Cardinals who love our bird feeders, especially the Safflower seeds. This little chick came with his dad, who was feeding him. They usually come early in the morning or right around dusk. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

And then he tried to get seed for himself. It doesn’t get much cuter!

First Solo Bath For This Little Downy Woodpecker On Cape Cod.

This Downy Woodpecker was the cutest little thing. He found this little puddle on the rock, left over from watering the flowers nearby, and decided that was where he was going to take a bath. (Click on blog link for other photos.)

And then mom came back to get him and they made their way up the nearby tree.

It doesn’t get much cuter!!

Baby Blue Jays In Our Yard On Cape Cod.

We’ve never had baby Blue Jays in our yard here on Cape Cod, so it was a real treat to see these little ones being fed by their parents. (Click on blog link for other photos.)

In the first photograph you can see the little one’s excitement waiting for mom to come with some food. Their little wings are going a mile a minute! In the 2nd and 3rd photo, mom is feeding them, and they are ready with their mouths wide open.

The last photo shows their contentment with having been fed. They are way too cute!!

We have so many baby birds in our yard this summer, it is amazing. I have seen baby  Bluebirds, Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, Red-winged Blackbirds, Finches, Chickadees, Nuthatches, Cardinals, Downy Woodpeckers and Flickers. Maybe we are running a bird nursery here?? 🙂
