Beautiful Flowers On Salt Pond Trail In Eastham On Cape Cod

The flowers, which have gone by, are still so pretty on the Salt Pond Trail in Eastham on Cape Cod. It is a beautiful little hike which starts at the Visitor’s Center and goes along the Salt Pond, Nauset Marsh and then back through the woods. There are other trails leading off of that one if you feel like  a longer hike.

The views are just spectacular. What do you think?

Yellow Common Winter Cress Wildflowers Are Blooming By The Salt Pond In Eastham On Cape Cod

I couldn’t believe it when I saw these pretty yellow Common Winter Cress wildflowers blooming along the trail at the Salt Pond on the National Seashore on Cape Cod. I thought all of the wildflowers would be long gone by now.

Common Winter Cress, which grow to 1-2 feet,  have 4 petals with flowers at the end of the upright stalks. The flowers are about 1″ and grow from May to September. Maybe because we’ve been having such a mild fall, they are still growing?

It was such a treat to see these yellow wildflowers growing along the trail so late in the season.

My Zinnias Are Still Blooming Here on Cape Cod

We haven’t had a freeze yet here on Cape Cod so my Zinnias are still blooming and gorgeous! I picked about 100 of them yesterday and put them in vases all around the house. They are so pretty and so colorful! And I know in a couple of weeks they will be gone…

Have you ever really looked at a Zinnia? This is looking down on it. The tiny yellow stamens  that circle the main flower are just exquisite!

Red Berries On My Flowering Dogwood Tree Here On Cape Cod

We planted a flowering Dogwood tree in out backyard this past summer. It was very pretty with white flowers. Then this fall 1″ ed berries grew where the flower had been. I have never seen a berries like these on a Dogwood tree.

As I researched the red berries,  flowering Dogwood trees have red berries. I learned something new!

Pretty, don’t you think?

Beautiful Painted Lady Butterfly Feeding On My Zinnias On Cape Cod

This beautiful Painted Lady butterfly flitted from Zinnia to Zinnia in my yard here on Cape Cod. I thought all of the butterflies had left for the season, but this one was still here and certainly took its time savoring each flower.

I couldn’t decide which of the first two photographs I like better. What do you think?

The last photograph was just cool… a head on shot. I love its little eyes!
