Throwback Thursday… Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod Five Years Ago.

Wow! When I saw this photograph and realized that I had posted it 5 years ago, I just had to post it again. I remember Coast Guard Beach that day when the lifeguards didn’t know where to put their chair because the water was so high at high tide.

And the black peat from the old kettle pond was so thick that the water was sloshing  around it. This was when the old path to the beach was still there… when you could sit on the bench at the end and just enjoy looking out over the ocean.

So much has changed in just these past 5 years from the storms and erosion. The old path now has a dropoff of 20+ feet and it keeps growing!

Mother Nature will do it her way… every time!  I thought it was a pretty cool photo, what do you think?

Lots Of Erosion On Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

The new path to Coast Guard Beach is no longer. It got wiped out in last weekend’s storm and left a 10-15 foot drop-off. Wow!

You can see that the water goes way up to the dunes and it was 2 hours until high tide. Mother Nature sure has a way of showing herself.

I wonder how anyone will be able to take a walk on Coast Guard Beach this winter… and how will it be accessible next summer. Thank goodness for the National Seashore and all the work that they do.
