The Cattails Were Huge Overlooking Nauset Marsh On Cape Cod.

I love the hike from Doane Rock to Coast Guard Beach and the little off-shoot trail that overlooks Nauset Marsh. I thought this was such a cool photograph of the tall cattails with Nauset Marsh and Nauset Beach in the background.

And then I was editing it with my new camera and couldn’t decide which one I liked better. What do you think?

Lots Of Seals Along The Ocean Beaches On Cape Cod

If you walk along the ocean beaches on Cape Cod, you are sure to see seals swimming along the shore, diving in and out of the waves. I’ve seen a lot of seals at Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Beach in the past few days.

If you walk all the way to Nauset Spit at low tide from either Nauset Beach or Coast Guard Beach, you can see what I call “seal island.” It is a sand bar, not too far from shore, that the seals pile on at low tide. You can hear their distinctive sounds from quite far away.

This 2nd photograph was taken from the end of Coast Guard Beach a few days ago.

Another Gorgeous Kayaking Day On Cape Cod

It was another picture-perfect day for kayaking the Nauset Marsh out to Nauset Spit. We launched from Goose Hummock, so it was a nice long paddle. And yes, we did see a few seals along the way.

We remembered our folding seats that fit in the hatch, so that was a big treat at lunchtime. Just sit down, relax and enjoy those last days of summer.

It doesn’t get much prettier!
