This little Horseshoe Crab shell that we saw on Coast Guard Beach the other day was no bigger than a quarter. It was tiny!
“For the horseshoe to grow larger, it must molt and shed its shell. These “molts” can sometimes be found near tidal flats, left by the juvenile crabs who live there for their first year or two.”
It was the perfect beach day at Coast Guard Beach, part of the National Seashore, in Eastham on Cape Cod. It was sunny and warm with a little breeze, but not too hot.
We got there early to beat the heat and the notorious “green flies” and it was well worth it. The perfect day to go to the beach…. for an hour or for the whole day. It doesn’t’ get much better…
I love walking on Coast Guard Beach is Eastham on Cape Cod. It goes for miles and miles and is just pristine. You can see why it was voted #6 in the country.
There has been a bit of erosion along the beach as you can see the high water mark quite distinctly with the 3-4 foot dunes near the water.
Always a beautiful walk… any day, any time, any weather!
Yesterday was my favorite kind of day at the beach… windy and cloudy with big, roaring waves! It was a glorious day at Coast Guard Beach, part of the National Seashore, in Eastham.
So I went for a long walk on the beach. It was crowded with vacationers all with their hoodies on as they sat and enjoyed the beach and everything that it offers. A few people even ventured into the water which was a cool 62 degrees.
I guess people who are here on vacation love the beach in any weather and will spend the whole day there, even all bundled up!
I loved this photograph of the beach fence as you walk down to Coast Guard Beach in Eastham on Cape Cod. I thought the fence with the Wild Roses were so simple yet so pretty.
Coast Guard Beach, on the National Seashore, was voted the #6 Best Beach in the USA again this year! It is a gorgeous beach that stretches for miles…
Put it on your Bucket List if you haven’t been there! It’s hard to beat!
