Phil and I were taking an early morning walk on the Nauset Marsh Trail when we heard this Gray Catbird singing away. It was like he was serenading us as we walked along the trail.
So we got our cameras out and clicked away, hoping to get a good photograph of him singing, as he posed high on the branch in the sun.
The views from the overlook at Nauset Light Beach are just gorgeous and always changing. I loved this view from the parking lot looking out over the old fence to the ocean.
Someone has been busy at Nauset Light Beach. They have made 2 of these free-firm structures using only things found at the beach like driftwood and twine from the branches. Standing about 8′ tall, they are pretty cool looking. One is at the entrance to the beach by the trail and the other one is quite a ways down the beach toward Coast Guard Beach.
Have you seen them on the beach? Someone was being very creative!
We saw our first Great Yellowlegs on the flats at Boat Meadow Beach the other day. Summer must be somewhere around the corner. It’s such a treat to see the shorebirds migrating back up north.
As you can see the Greater Yellowlegs is known for its distinctively long, bright yellow legs and yellow feet. Have you ever seen a Greater Yellowlegs?
