Beautiful Little House Finch At Our Home On Cape Cod.

House Finches do winter here on Cape Cod, but I haven’t seen them since last summer until… Two of them showed up at our bird feeder a couple of weeks ago. I loved this little one’s expression. Precious, isn’t it?
I thought I would post this photo in honor of my Dad. He would have been 100 years old today.  He taught me all about birds and instilled in me a love of birding when I was a little girl. I remember sitting on the patio and him saying, “There’s a Towhee!” You can hear his call, “Drink your tea!” It was the first bird call that I learned.
So, Happy 100th Birthday, Dad. Thank you for the gift of birding and love of nature. I miss you.

Beautiful Purple Wild Myrtle In The Woods At My Home On Cape Cod.

I was so surprised to see this little purple Wild Myrtle in the middle of the woods behind my home. How on earth did it get there? I have never seen one there before.

When I saw this little bit of purple of there in the woods, I decided to investigate. What I found was one little wildflower and lots of leaves which may mean more flowers?

Keeping my fingers crossed! What a treat!

It Was LOW Tide Yesterday At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod!

Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous here on Cape Cod! We decided that a morning walk on Coast Guard Beach would be the perfect way to spend Easter Sunday. Were we in for a treat! (Click on blog link to see other photo.)

The tide was so low that the flats down by Nauset Spit went on for miles! Phil took this pano as we stood way out on one of the flats looking back toward the beach. That’s me in the photo on the right  with Coast Guard Station way in the distance. On the left is Nauset Spit. So cool, don’t you think?

We’ve never seen the tide this low at Coast Guard Beach. There were numerous sandbars that we had never seen before either. What a perfect way to spend Easter… walking on the beach on such a glorious day!
