Beautiful Prickly Pear Cactus Flowers On Cape Cod.

I’ve seen many of these Prickly Pear Cactus flowers in the sand along the sides of the road here on Cape Cod. There are a couple of Prickly Pear Cactus plants on the road to Boat Meadow Beach.

They bloom from June through  August in sandy soil and dunes and are so pretty and delicate. They are native and on the “Massachusetts List of Endangered, Threatened and Special Concern Species.”

Have you ever seen a Pear Cactus flower?

Cute Little Piping Plover At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

This photograph of the Piping Plover got lost in the shuffle last summer when I was posting bird photos. I thought it was so cute.

Love the blue, blue sky and him looking out from  the top of the little dune at Coast Guard Beach. What do you think?
