Twin Little Copper Butterflies On The Doane Rock Trail On Cape Cod.

I was so surprised to see not one, but two of these beautiful Little Copper butterflies on the trail by Coast Guard Beach. I hadn’t seen very many butterflies this past summer and was surprised they were still around. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

Little Copper butterflies are very small with a wing span of only about an inch. Have you ever seen one? Beautiful little butterfly, don’t you think?

Gorgeous Red Admiral Butterfly In Our Yard On Cape Cod.

I kept seeing this butterfly flitting around and it finally landed on the paver stone by the garden full of Zinnias. He posed there for quite a while before he flew away.

And then in the evening, I saw it again out in our yard resting on a dead leaf on the ground. Not the perfect photo op, but truly a beautiful butterfly!

Beautiful Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly In Our Yard On Cape Cod.

This beautiful Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly has been flitting around our yard for days. It always flies so high up in the trees and never lands on anything. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

And then, just as I walked out the door to feed the Bluebirds, he flew to the top of my little Dogwood tree where he stayed for quite a while.

You can see how different they are when their wings are folded. Have you seen any Tiger Swallowtails yet this spring? Beautiful butterfly… love those blue spots!

Gorgeous Monarch Butterfly Still In Our Yard On Cape Cod.

This gorgeous Monarch butterfly hung around our yard most of yesterday. It might leave for a bit here and there but it always came back to feed on the white Zinnias.

Thank goodness we haven’t had a frost and I haven’t ripped out the flowers yet or it would have nothing to eat… and it’s a long way to Mexico. I just hope he got enough nourishment and survived last night’s storm to be on its way.

What a beautiful butterfly and to think it’s still here in November…
