These colorful boats at Rock Harbor were so pretty in the sunlight with their reflections on the still waters. It only lasted a few minutes until the winds made ripples and erased their reflections.
Phil and I were taking a walk on Coast Guard Beach the other day when we saw some little birds scurrying about in the and. At first we thought they were some late Piping Plovers, but the coloring wasn’t right. As we got closer, we realized that they were Sanderlings. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
“The first photo shows a Sanderling in winter plumage, the second photo shows a Sanderling molting out of its colorful breeding plumage.”
Thank you, Stephanie (Executive Director at Wild Care Cape Cod) for your expertise and knowledge of these wonderful little birds!
I never get sick of the beach trails here on Cape Cod. Each one is so different and so pretty. You can see the colors are starting to change a little bit.
I loved this trail to Cape Cod Bay. What do you think?
The flats at low tide on Cape Cod Bay are always beautiful. I took this photograph at Boat Meadow Beach. You can see the sailboat on its mooring sitting on the sand at low tide.
