I usually see this Great Blue Heron way up high in the tree at Rock Harbor when I’m out biking early in the morning, but I never have my camera with me. (Click on blog link to see other photos.)
The other day we were having a picnic breakfast at Rock Harbor when I looked up in the tree and there he was… about 30′ up! And I had my camera right there.
Love the first photo where he is calling out with his croaking sound. The 2nd one shows him scratching his neck with those long toes! And the last one shows you how high he was up in the tree.
It was a gorgeous day to go sailing out in Pleasant Bay, sunny and breezy and just perfect. We were taking a walk at Kent Point when we saw this Cat sailboat put up its sail and take off toward Pleasant Bay.
One of the overlooks at Morris Island in ChathamĀ looks out over the water toward Monomoy Island. It brings back so many memories of our kayaking out there 15-20 years ago when the seals would follow our kayaks around. Not any more. There is much too much risk of seeing one of the Great Whites out there, which we have no desire to see.
Oh, we did have fun riding those waves in as the tides changed. Great memories…
We were put scouting along Little Pleasant Bay, looking for new places to launch our kayaks. We stopped at this launch that looks pretty promising when this little Spotted Sandpiper hopped up on the retaining wall. It was just beautiful.
Phil very quietly opened his window and clicked away. I love the coloring. What do you think?
