Glacial Rock By Nauset Marsh At Fort Hill On Cape Cod

You can see this large rock deposited by a glacier many years ago as you hike along Nauset Marsh at Fort Hill on Cape Cod.

As the dense ice glacier moved across the land in this area, many large “glacial” rocks were left behind. This is just one of them down by the marshes.

The Mountain Laurel Wildflowers Are Starting To Bud On Cape Cod

The abundant Mountain Laurel wildflowers on Cape Cod are starting to bud. They must be a native shrub as you can find them everywhere.

I saw this Mountain Laurel as I was taking a walk a few days ago. I loved the little buds starting to emerge.

Did you know that Mountain Laurel is a flowering evergreen shrub in the heather family which blooms in May and June from Maine to Florida?

The Song Sparrows Are Singing Away On Cape Cod

Ths Song Sparrows are back and singing away on Cape Cod. I saw this little guy in the bush at Fort Hill in Eastham by the Nauset Marsh. His music was so melodic.

Wishing you all a beautiful Easter and hope you can get outside in nature for a little bit today and enjoy all its beauty. Maybe you will hear a Song Sparrow singing to you too!

Spectacular Overlook of Nauset Marsh From Fort Hill In Eastham on Cape Cod

The views on Cape Cod don’t get much better than the view overlooking Nauset Marsh in Eastham. This was a gorgeous day with the tides high.  You can see the Coast Guard Station in the distance on the left and Nauset Break in the distance to the right.

If you have never been to Fort Hill, put it on your to-do list!

Beautiful Great Blue Heron At Nauset Marsh On Cape Cod

We were taking a little hike down to Coast Guard Beach along Nauset Marsh on Cape Cod when I saw my favorite bird out in the tall grass. This Great Blue Heron was standing there, pruning himself. Look at those feathers… just beautiful!

On our way back he was moving around and you could tell he was looking for a meal in the little tributaries coming out from Nauset Marsh.
