Interesting Way To Eat Lunch On Nauset Beach On Cape Cod

This Seagull was hilarious in his theatrics of eating a clam on Nauset Beach in Orleans on Cape Cod!

I was walking along the beach when this Seagull flew over my head and dropped a clam on the beach about 10 feet away. It was smashed and ready to eat. He quickly pounced on it and enjoyed his meal to the utmost as another Seagull stayed closeby, looking for any handouts. Sorry, there were none when he was finished.

I just love how he is ingesting this clam while upside down. Hilarious, don’t you think?

Red-Tailed Hawk Making Its Nest On Cape Cod

This Red-tailed Hawk landed in my yard the other morning. I was sure it was looking for breakfast, but I was mistaken.

It walked around looking at all of the little branches that had fallen off the trees this winter and found that perfect one to build its nest, picked it up and off it flew.

That was really cool to see so “up close and personal!”

Pretty Little, White Snowdrop Flowers In Orleans On Cape Cod

I saw my first pretty, little white Snowdrop flowers on the side of the road in Orleans on Cape Cod the other day. They are so delicate.

I couldn’t find them in my flower book so my friend Alice, who is a guru in flower identification, helped me out. Thank you, Alice!

Snowdrops, which are perennials, produce one small (1″ or less), white flower, which hangs down off its stalk like a “drop” prior to opening. When the bloom opens, the eye beholds 3 outer petals arching out over 3 inner petals. Snowdrops flower early in the year so you should plant them where you can easily see them, even under  tree because they bloom before the leaves come out!

I might have to plant some Snowdrop bulbs at my new house. They are so pretty and such a treat to find this time of year!
