The Spotted Wintergreen Wildflowers On Cape Cod Are Just Beautiful.

I love the Spotted Wintergreen wildflowers that grow here on the Cape. They are so much fun to watch as they first bud, then bloom with the flower facing downward. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

The flowers are quite small, only 1″. When they are finished blooming, the flowers face up toward the sun. Such an interesting plant… and such unique little flower.

We saw very similar wildflowers when we lived in Colorado, but they were called Pipsissiwa and are in the same family but they are a bit taller than the Spotted Wintergreen’s 4″ to 10″ height.

Butter And Eggs Wildflowers Are Blooming On Cape Cod.

I’ve always loved the Butter and Eggs wildflowers as the colors so remind me of “butter and eggs.” They are a two-toned yellow and orange wildflower that resemble a garden snapdragon.

Butter and Eggs  bloom through September, so you still have plenty of time to see them along the roadsides, trails and fields.

Making Lemonade Out Of Lemons On Cape Cod.

The past few mornings have been so foggy that you can’t even see the water and if you take a walk, you can hear the dew dripping from the trees. It’s very humid. When I went out on my early morning bike ride, I saw some pretty wildflowers growing near the salt marsh. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

It was low tide on the salt marsh and you could see the back side of Rock Harbor in the distance. I thought, “How can I make lemonade out of lemons?” I snapped a few photographs and then came home and challenged Phil to an edit.

Mine is the first edit and his is the 2nd. Totally different interpretations, don’t you think? Which one do you like better?

Beautiful Pink Crown Vetch Wildflowers On Cape Cod.

The Crown Vetch wildflowers are blooming all over Cape Cod and are just gorgeous! Crown Vetch are a bicolored flower which form golf-ball size clusters at the end of stalks. They are a creeping plant which makes a nice ground cover.

I took this photograph on the Nauset Marsh Trail past the amphitheater at the Visitors Center.

Looking Out Toward Wellfleet Harbor On Cape Cod.

The flowers were blooming and the setting was just perfect looking out toward Wellfleet Harbor. I loved the fence, the cottage and the multitudes of wild roses blooming in the field. So pretty and summery, don’t you think?

You can even see Jeremy Point way in the distance…
