We were driving home yesterday after breakfast and I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I yelled, “Stop! There’s a hawk on the side of the road.” Phil quickly turned the car around and there was a Red-tailed Hawk on the ground about 3 feet from the road. He was kicking something in the leaves. I figured it must be his next meal. All I had was my iPhone so I clicked away. I got a couple of ok photographs. You can see one of them below.
We quickly drove home and I ran in and got my camera, hoping it would still be there. It was and these are the 2 photographs I got when he flew up in the tree, still only about 10 feet from me. I took a horizontal and a vertical. I couldn’t even zoom in as he was too close.
This little Down Woodpecker was so cute as it hung onto the side of our bird bath for a drink of water. I couldn’t figure out how it stayed there, but it did!
The call of the Red-bellied Woodpecker is so unique, you can hear it from far away. This particular Red-bellied Woodpecker always announces when he’s coming by so I can get ready! He landed on our bird bath for a drink of water.
Beautiful bird, don’t you think? I love his coloring. Have you ever heard a Red-bellied Woodpecker’s call?
The Great Blue Heron is my very favorite bird! I love its features and the majestic way it moves. We were walking the Salt Pond Trail and saw this Great Blue looking for his next meal.
The lighting was perfect on these Seagulls standing on the sandbar at Skaket Beach as the tide was coming in. It was a dark, cloudy, cold and windy day so when the sun shone on the sandbar and the Seagulls, it was so pretty.
