The Red-Winged Blackbirds Are Back On Cape Cod!

When I was taking a walk near the salt marsh a few days ago, I heard the call of the Red-Winged Blackbird. I love that call! “Cuck-a-ree!” It is just beautiful! To me, it means that spring is here! They usually come back in March, but this was earlier than I remember.

Yesterday when I was at the Coast Guard Beach, there were 2 Red-winged Blackbirds calling back and forth to each other from the top of the trees in the parking lot. So, this is my first photograph of a Red-winged Blackbird this year! What a treat!

Beautiful bird, don’t you think? Have you heard their distinct call yet this spring?

Cliff Pond At Nickerson State Park On Cape Cod.

There are so many different hikes at Nickerson State Park and so many around the many kettle ponds. I love this 3 mile hike around Cliff Pond. You are never very far from the water so the views and reflections are breathtaking.

Have you ever hiked it?

Spectacular Waves At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod!

Phil and I were taking a walk on Coast Guard Beach the other day when we noticed the waves were unbelievable. They were huge and crashing  so close to shore that you could see a curl where you almost expected a surfer to pop out!

We got a few photographs and then it was over in a matter of minutes. Gorgeous, don’t you think?
