Happy Valentine’s Day From Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod!

I decided to make a Cape Cod Valentine’s Day Card for my friends and family who love Cape Cod.  Of course the day I decided to make it was about 20 degrees with 20 mph winds. It was freezing, but I was determined.

I drove down to Coast Guard Beach in the morning when the tide was starting to come in. I found a short stick and made a heart, only to realize that my footprints were in the photograph. So, I found  a longer stick. I was all set! Now to figure out how to draw the heart, take the photograph and get out of the way before the wave came in….hmmm.

I made the heart. It looked good. I got my camera out and took a photograph as the wave started to come in. It looked good. But in all my excitement, my feet got stuck in the sand as the water came in and I fell down on my knees. Whoops! It sure was cold but I think I got a great Valentine’s Day photo for my Valentine’s Day Card.

Wishing a Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone and especially everyone who loves Cape Cod!

Cute, Little Song Sparrow Getting Ready For A Bath At Our Home On Cape Cod!

We have so many different species of birds that come to our bird bath, for either a drink or a bath. They especially like it in the winter when many of the ponds and bird baths are frozen. We have a little heater in ours which keeps it from freezing, so the birds can always get a drink.

When we were building our home 3 years ago, that was one thing on our list that the electrician couldn’t quite understand. Yes, we wanted a plug out by the bird bath so we could have a heated bird bath all winter long. It’s a win, win for all of us!

Our Wiley Park Loop Hike On Cape Cod Is On The AllTrails App.

One of our favorite hikes in this area is at Wiley Park. It is so close to home , easily accessible and always a new adventure. A photograph of the entire hike is at the end of the blog.

You can park your car on Herringbrook Road and hike a nice 1.9 mile loop through the woods, along the shores of Great Pond and over the bridge to its attached kettle pond. It is really pretty any time of the year. There are many little off-shoot trails so you can lengthen or shorten your hike as you like.

It is a very easy hike and fun for the whole family!

Facing South On Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

I posted 2 photographs yesterday of the gorgeous clouds on Coast Guard Beach, part of the National Seashore. No matter which way you looked the clouds were amazing.

I turned around facing the opposite direction, looking toward Nauset Spit, and this is what I saw. Beautiful, don’t you think?

Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod In Horizontal or Vertical?

With temperatures in the mid 60s the other day, Coast Guard Beach on the National Seashore was the perfect place to take a walk. It felt like mid-May. Unbelievable!

The clouds were spectacular! I took a horizontal and thought was pretty special. And then I took a vertical. Wow! I can’t decide which one I like better. What do you think?
