The Changing Dunes At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

I thought it would be interesting to see  some photographs of the dunes at Coast Guard Beach over the past few years. (Click on blog link to see additional photos.) The 1st two photos were taken on Feb.23, 2020.

The 3rd photo was taken on January 17, 2018. The dunes look pretty similar from 2018  to now. But, if you look at the last photograph, there is a huge difference. This one was taken on Feb. 19, 2017. The dunes are considerably smaller. (The photographs were all taken at the same dune, by the entrance trail to the beach.)

In the winter of 2018, we had a couple of violent Nor’easters that decimated the beaches and dunes on Cape Cod. So far this has been a very mild winter. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.

Unbelievable how the dunes have changed over the years… Mother Nature always wins.

Nature’s Love In Our Backyard On Cape Cod!

We have a male and female Cardinal that frequent our backyard in the early mornings and just about dusk in the evenings. We call them “Red” and “Birdie.” They are so sweet.

Birdie waits atop the feeder while Red goes down and gets some seed for her. I’m always hoping to get a good photograph of them together, but it never happened… until now.

It was just about dusk and I looked out and Red was feeding at the mealworm feeder, which is usually only used by Bluebirds, Hermit Thrushes and Yellow-rumped Warblers. I’d never seen a Cardinal there before. Birdie was sitting atop one of the other feeder, waiting for Red. And then he went to feed her…

So beautiful, don’t you think?

Little Cliff Pond In Nickerson State Park On Cape Cod.

It was a  beautiful day to take a hike around Little Cliff Pond. It’s a wonderful hike of about 1.6 miles and with easy trail markings, you can just walk along and just enjoy being outside in nature.

I loved the wispy clouds at you look back over the pond. What do you think?
