Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod Was Spectacular Yesterday!

Yesterday was a gorgeous day so we decided to have a picnic in the car at Nauset Light Beach and then go to Coast Guard Beach for a little walk. It was just gorgeous.

We walked partway down the beach but the tide was coming in and we didn’t want to get stuck on the way back. I  love the sound of the waves as they were churning and breaking way far out!

Pretty sky, don’t you think?

The Marconi Beach Stairs In Wellfleet On Cape Cod Made It Through The Winter!

The stairs at Marconi Beach in Wellfleet on Cape Cod made it through the winter intact! It’s always a question at the beginning of winter… will the stairs at the Cape Cod beaches make it through the winter? As you can see, these are pretty substantial steps!

And a beautiful view in the distance. Have you ever been to Marconi Beach to swim or take a walk?

Carolina Wren Searching For Food On Our Deck On Cape Cod.

I’ve been watching this little Carolina Wren on our deck for a while now. He loves to peck between the boards as he moves up and down them. I wonder what he is finding… food, I presume. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

I have never seen a bird be so diligent about cleaning out between the boards on the deck.  He is just too cute! Funny little guy, don’t you think?

Beautiful View From Indian Rock At Fort Hill On Cape Cod.

It was the perfect day to take a hike along one of Fort Hill’s many trails. This trail leads up to Skiff Hill which has an overlook of Nauset Marsh with Coast Guard Beach in the distance.

It is also the site of the “Indian Rock,” which  a large boulder moved to the hill from the marsh below. “Once used by the local Nauset tribe as a sharpening stone, the rock is cut with deep grooves and smoothed in circles where ax heads were whetted.”

Such a beautiful place, don’t you think?

Lone Yellow Daffodil In The Woods Behind Our Home On Cape Cod!

When we moved to Cape Cod a few years ago, I noticed this bit of yellow in the woods behind our house. I thought it was a piece of trash. Was I pleasantly surprised to see that it was a lovely yellow Daffodil! (Click on blog link to see other photo.)

How on earth did it  get there? My neighbor and I think a squirrel must have brought it there when it was digging for nuts. Can you see it in the 2nd photograph? It’s right in the middle of the picture!

With the cold weather we’ve had the past week or so, I thought that it would be late in blooming this year. But, it’s about 3 weeks ahead of schedule from years past. Maybe from the mild winter that we had?

Pretty, don’t you think? (It’s a little droopy because the temps haven’t gotten much above freezing the past couple of days!) I sure am ready to put my winter parka away!
